Threads of Love and Friendship – Raksha Bandhan Celebration
On Raksha Bandhan, celebrated on 8th August, students from Pre-Nursery to Grade II took part in activities that beautifully reflected the spirit of this traditional festival.
Honouring the Spirit of Raksha Bandhan
Raksha Bandhan is a festival that symbolises the bond of protection, affection, and respect between siblings and friends. To mark this day, students enthusiastically created colourful Rakhis using threads, beads, and decorative materials. They tied rakhis to one another, applied tilak, and exchanged warm wishes, fostering a sense of unity and friendship within the classroom.
Understanding the Significance of the Festival

Teachers narrated the story and traditions associated with Raksha Bandhan, highlighting its cultural importance and the values it upholds. Age-appropriate videos were shown which made the learning both enjoyable and meaningful and helped students understand the values of protection, care, and respect.
Student Creativity and Expressions
Through hands-on Rakhi-making activities, students expressed their creativity while developing fine motor skills. The act of tying Rakhis and applying tilak gave them an opportunity to experience the festival’s customs firsthand, deepening their understanding of the cultural heritage.
